HOW DO I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT? AND
WHEN IS THE ATTORNEY AVAILABLE TO MEET? ...
If you would like to speak with me about a legal matter, please give us a call or send an e-mail, and we will be
happy to schedule a time
for you to come into the office. Since our clients lead busy lives and often have demanding day-time schedules, I do
offer evening and weekend appointments, if needed.
IS THERE A CHARGE
FOR THE INITIAL CONSULTATION? ...
No -- the initial consultation is always free. We generally
allot one hour for the initial no-cost consultation.
MY INFORMATION BE KEPT CONFIDENTIAL? ...
Lawyers are bound by the New Hampshire Rules
of Professional Conduct, and by basic principles of ethics and integrity, to honor client confidences and to hold them sacred.
With very few, carefully prescribed exceptions – such as when a lawyer reveals confidential information in order to prevent
a future crime – a law office is barred from ever revealing a client’s confidential information. Often, in order to understand
a client’s situation and give him or her appropriate legal advice, the lawyer must obtain confidential and personal information
from the client. You can rest assured that your private information stays private – not only during the course of the legal
representation, but forever thereafter.
HOW WILL I BE BILLED FOR SERVICES?...
Perhaps no legal issue creates as much confusion – or material for lawyer
jokes! – as attorney billing. It would seem that communication is the key to clearing up much of the confusion and mystery.
Depending on the type of legal matter involved, this office uses one of three standard methods of billing for lawyer services:
flat-fee billing (generally used for preparation of certain “standard” documents)… contingency fee arrangements
(used for certain types of civil lawsuits, such as personal injury cases)… and hourly billing. We find that most legal
matters are of such a nature that billing on an hourly basis is the only fair method. Given the type of matter involved, in
order to begin provision of services we may need to request an initial retainer.
Regardless of the billing
method utilized in a particular matter, one fact remains the same. Our goal is always to provide top-notch legal services
at a cost which is affordable, fair, and also comparable, in light of the broader legal market.
